July in Dubai

Well Dan has made it Dubai and boy is it hot... But understand it is just as hot in Houston.
Started clearing up, for a week there where sandstorms and the air was full of dust. It has since cleared up a little but they say that it will be this way until October.

Dan and I went on a desert safari yesterday. It was kind of scary going over the sand, seemed like we were going to roll over and that we were surfing the sand. I would recomend this trip to any first time visitor to Dubai as you certainly get that Arabic feeling.
Here are some pictures from our day.

yes that is me with Dan it is hard to tell when I'm all in black. Had to try on the trational garb and Dan looks pretty neat don't you think?
Here are some pictures of Atlantis. It is located on the big Palm at Jumeria..
Would love to stay here for a weekend.. It is truly amazing to see.

Some pictures of a hotel we went to the other night for dinner at a seafood place that was way out on the water. You had to walk down a long pier to get to it.

Here is the Burg Alaram.  The only 7 star hotel.  Dan took this picture at nite.  Love the way it lights up......

Look at all this gold.. this was taken down in Diera where all of the gold souks are... some of the pieces are so big I couldn't imagine wearing them and you know I'm a jewelery person

Well hope you enjoyed our pictures and sorry it has taken so long to update my blog.. Will try and do better.
Dan returns in October so should have more adventures and oportunities to take pictures because the weather should be cooler.

Dubai

The hotel I currently am at
hotel pool

More of the hotel I liked the grounds of the hotel but didn't like the apartments so much, very dark
this is what the markets look like or Shouks as they are called here

this creek is where all of the shops are on either side of it.. you have to take a water taxis to go to one side or the other it cost one dirhem to get to the other side... which is about 45 cents
Some of the Dubai skyline, yes it looks this hazy wasn't just my camera, they say it gets better during the winter. Must be the hot weather

On the creek were all of the souks (markets) are

the gold suok goes on forever, as a realiazed the prices aren't that great but the display of gold and diamonds are truly amazing
the small boat in front is a water taxi that takes you from one side of the creek to the other. The bigger boat is what they use to ship all of the merchandise to other parts of the middle east. Everything is manualy loaded onto the boats from trucks... a lot of manual labor
One of me on one of the busy streets of shops
More water taxi's
Overall a very different place... look forward to exploring more...
